We’re counting days before a new year starts. Are you planning to redecorate your home’s interior design in 2016? As a Malibu interior designer, I’d love to share with you my thoughts and personal predictions for 2016 interior design trends to keep your house up-to-date with the current home decorating styles.

Colors

To start off, Marsala and Pantone colors were 2015’s color of the year. These soft shades of reds give a romantic ambiance that easily blends with creams and neutrals.

2016 interior design prediction

Since they work well with nudes and neutrals, I believe this soft color can be introduced in any room of the house in different design combinations. I see this Pantone color used as a decor accent or perhaps a side chair in the coming year.

Brass and Copper Lighting

Metals, brass and copper accents in interior design, a hit this year, also look bright for 2016. The shiny elements give a distinct look and add texture to the room.

The most popular items are the brass pendant chandeliers and copper lighting that adds charm in dining areas and living rooms.

Green Interior Design

Many homeowners these days are looking for “green living” in interior designs. People are starting to embrace an eco-friendly atmosphere due to its functionality and energy-saving design. Green design encompasses many elements of the home, such as lighting, appliances, flooring, upholstery, fixtures, furniture, wall coverings or paint, landscape and more. People choose green living design for different reasons.  Some of them are:

  • Save on energy costs
  • Make your home healthier
  • Stretching your remodeling dollar
  • Create an environmentally-friendly home

Whatever your reasons, there are many options to help you reach your goals.
Stated above are a few of the designs trends that made a hit this year that I believe consumers and homeowners will embrace in 2016.
